Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution

Many programmes were conducted throughout the academic year to highlight the goals and objectives of the college.

The institution with the team of well qualified and dedicated staff strive to motivate the students to preserve, face life situations and challenges and emerge successful. The Motto “SHINE IN USE” clearly exemplifies the objective of the College.

 On 28th March 2011 200 students of the college participated in a Rally organized by the Nilgiris District Collector Madam Mrs. Archana Patnaik I.A.S., to give awareness to the public regarding voting rights.

  • On 23rd April 2011 the 8th Graduation Day was celebrated in the College Auditorium. Dr. R.Murugesan M.E., Ph.D., Honorable Vice Chancellor of Anna University of Technology, Madurai was the Chief Guest. The members of the Nilgiri Education Society, President, Secretary, Treasurer, Chairman College Committee, Controller of Examination from the Bharathiar University, Coimbatore participated in the function. 167 students received their degrees. 7 students who got University Ranks were honoured by the Vice- Chancellor by adorning Gold Medals.
  • The academic year started on 6th June 2011 with the admission for the UG and PG courses. The College union election was conducted on 22nd July 2011. Ms.I.Bushra, III B.Com and Ms.H.Fathima from III B.A. Literature were elected as the College Union Chariman and Secretary respectively. Ms.T.Renuka was selected as the Games Secretary. The students union election went on a democratic manner.
  • The 65th Independence Day was celebrated in the College Campus. His Holiness Shri. Ramu Baba from Abu Babaji Charitable Trust was the Chief Guest. The Tri Colour flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest and he delivered the Independence Day address. Many of our students presented patriotic speech and cultural programmes. Miss. Rabiyathul Basariya Anwar of II B.Sc. Maths delivered a speech on the Independence Day. She highlighted that apart from the National Day Celebrations each one should work in removing the thorns like social evils, discrimination, malnutrition etc in the path of development of our Nation.
  • The Inauguration of the Department associations was conducted on 19th August 2011. The Chief Guest of the function was Shri.Ambalavanan IAAS, Executive Director, Tea Board, Coonoor and Shri S.Motilal Kataria, Honorable Secretary of the College.
  • August 26th was celebrated as the friendship day in order to create friendship among the students. The function was inaugurated by the Principal of the College. The concept of the function is to avoid ragging in and around the Campus.
  • On 5th September 2011 the Teachers Day was celebrated to commemorate the Birthday of Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan the former president of India.
  • On 7 September 2011 the consumer club organised a seminar on food adulteration. Dr.Ravi, District Programme Co-ordinator, Citizen Consumer Club spoke about the different types of adulteration in various food items and their bad effects on health.
  • On 13th September 2011a legal awareness programme was conducted. The Chief Guest of the function was the District Judge of Nilgiris Shri  Prem Kumar. The other guests of the function were K.Anandakrishnan, Public Prosecutor, Ooty,  K.Narayanaswamy, Subordinate Judge, Ooty and R.Subramanian, Judicial Magistrate, Ooty.
  • On 19th September 2011 the Citizen Consumer Club of the college conducted a seminar on Consumer Rights. Shri. Ramani Vice President and Shri. Sabapathi, Secretary, Consumer Protection Council, Coonoor presided over the function and they emphasised the enshrines of the eight rights of the consumer.
  • On October 18th, 19th and 20th the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) Peer Team visited the college for Re-accreditation of the institution. The Team Comprised of Dr.Smt.K.Nirupa Rani, Former Vice Chancellor Adikavi Nannaya Univeristy, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh  – The Chairperson, Prof.C.Bharathi P.Salimath, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, University of Mysore, Karnataka –The Co-ordinator and Dr.Geetha Tiwari, Former Principal, Raipur - the member Co-ordinator. After the Assessment of the Peer Team the College has been awarded with B Grade by the NAAC.  The Principal was sent by the Honourable Secretary to the NAAC Office, Bangalore on 11th March 2012 to attend the Awarding Ceremony and receive the award.
  • On 6th January 2012 Vivacious 2012 a mega cultural event was organised in the college by Ms.Mubeena, Lecturer dept of computer science and other staff members. Shri. Piravi Perumal AGM of State Bank of India, Ooty was the Chief Guest of this Cultural Event. The Valedictory function of Vivacious was held on 7th January 2012 at 4.00 p.m. under the presidentship of Srinivasan R.Reddy I.F.S. Project Director Hill Area Development Programme. Prizes were distributed to the winners and the participants of the programme and he gave valedictory address to the students.
  • 25th January 2012 was celebrated as the National Voters Day and the pledge was taken by the staff and students of the college.
  • The 63rd Republic Day was celebrated in the College Campus and our respected Chairman of the College Committee Shri N.Krishnamoorthy hoisted the National Flag and delivered the republic day address. In his address he said that it is the duty of every citizen to participate in the National Function and he  praised the speech of the Students. The students acknowledged the words of the Chief Guest.
  • The Teaching and Non-teaching staff of our college have donated their one day salary for the Chief Ministers relief fund for “Thane Cyclone” to the amount of Rs.50868/-.
